The next time that you are feeling the blues or “it’s just not your day,” I have just the quick fix for you. Music.
Take your headset, plug it to your phone or laptop and start listening to happy songs for the full hour if possible. Close your eyes, get into it, be present and listen to the songs fully. Don’t even pay attention to your surroundings. Just immerse in it. I hope, after some time, these happy tunes will take you to happier places and boost your mood.
Elevate Your Mood
Music is such a great tool in elevating your mood and the current state of mind. It can transport you to places that you weren’t even thinking of before. If you put a happy playlist, it will make you happier. It can engage your emotions, bring your body to follow its rhythm and before you know it, you are enjoying the music. You might even find yourself dancing just a little bit. But If you put on a sentimental track, it will do just that. It will perhaps bring you back to a past memory and reflect on those times.
Going beyond just elevating your mood, music can also timestamp certain instances or events. It can take hold of your mind’s attention to the point that you would associate that memory with that song. For example, a particular song that you hear from a movie or the background music when you first kissed your partner. Anytime you hear that song, you will remember how you felt at the time. That’s why couples say they have “their songs.”
So the next time you are feeling down, you can think about it and figure out your next steps. If you can’t come to any conclusions yet, then why not just turn to music for now? Play a few, sing with them, dance some steps and who knows, maybe that answer you are looking for is just around the corner. Won’t that just make things so much easier?
