Have you tried ELF Prep and Hydrate Balm? As some of you might know, ELF produces a ton of primer for all skin types and tackles whatever concerns you might have. From dry skin, pore minimizers, oil control, to moisturizing primer, ELF has it all. They are all very affordable and they even have eye or glitter primer too.
ELF Prep and Hydrate Balm
In this article, I’ll be talking about the ELF Prep and Hydrate Balm. It retails for $8 and it’s a stick-like balm that you can roll up and down. According to ELF, it claims that it is infused with shea butter, cocoa, aloe and grape to hydrate skin. It is light blue in color and convenient. When applied, it glides on my face smoothly. It feels cool to the skin. Unlike other primers, it doesn’t feel sticky or tacky. Instead, it feels light and comfortable to wear. I like it a lot due to those two elements. This is my go-to product in the summer, especially when the weather is really hot and humid, I take this and replace it with my moisturizer. I use this right when I am about to apply my foundation. It is also convenient if I want to just toss it in my gym bag.
For me, I don’t see a huge difference in the “prep” aspect, or how it primes my makeup. I did switch to a hydrating foundation so maybe I feel the “hydrating” part of this product since I no longer use a matte foundation. At the very least, it provides a slight layer of evenness to my skin when I apply my foundation.
I have mixed feelings about this balm. It’s not that great but it isn’t so bad either. It does provide a light layer of hydrating elements but if you are looking for a good primer, I would not recommend it. However, with that being said, it’s only a mere $8 so it is considerably affordable in comparison to the other primers out there. I have heard many good things about their mineral infused face primer. I am sure with the wide range of primers that ELF has in their shelf, you’d be able to find one that works for you.
