Sometimes I am amazed when I look around at how much we females are able to multitask and juggle numerous things all at once. In our brain we come up with tasks and set up priorities; we have a capacity to think ahead while being in the middle of something; and we share the ability to adapt to changing conditions while at the same time managing our own emotions, our kids and our husbands. Let’s take some time to really recognize ourselves as superwomen in this busy world.
We know, however, that bringing forth our superwoman is not the healthiest of habits. Even superheroes need a break. So, you need to take care of yourself and satisfy some “me’” time indulgences. Instead of recommending some ways on how to balance them all, I am going to acknowledge and remind you of all that you have accomplished. I want you to own it because you know you totally deserve it. We are high performers, we get things done and we can still make ourselves very presentable when we go out.
It’s time to do a high five and pat on the back! Cue Beyonce’s “Run the World.”
Never ever forget how much you have done for your family, and how much you have been successful in managing both your personal and professional responsibilities. You have lost many hours of sleep and overworked yourself while always delivering dinner every night on the dining table. Now, take some time to really take a breath, close your eyes and think of ways how to reward yourself big time. Not just an hour or two to do your nails. I am talking about some pretty recognition and one big reward. For example, take a whole day out at your favorite 5-star hotel, order room service, binge on Netflix, soak yourself in that deep bathtub with bubbles and rose petals, sleep in total darkness and quiet for 8 hours straight or more.
There is a difference between rewarding yourself (point above) and celebrating. Rewarding yourself in the above section is more about you doing things on your own, at your own timing, however, and whatever you like. On the other hand, celebrating means that you can celebrate “your day” with whomever you like. It can be a girls day or night out with your few close friends. It can also be your husband, like an escapade or a road trip to Vegas. And you know what they say about Vegas. But if you want to keep it low-key, it can be with your children too, where you can all agree on an activity that everyone will enjoy. Remember that the focus here is celebrating YOU.
On behalf of everyone surrounding you, I thank you for all your hard work, love, care, support and dedication. At times, you might have to sacrifice things on your end just to make sure that you are on time for the kids’ breakfast or tucking them in. I hope you can still find the time to do “you” eventually. Everyone knows that you have put everyone first, and you putting attention on yourself can be far-fetched. But yet, this is a much needed time to recharge and reward yourself on what an outstanding Superwoman you have been. Now, go, stretch and come up with the best reward for yourself. You totally deserve it and you have earned it. Sit back and relax. Put your feet up now and enjoy!
